Backyard Bounty all-Tasmanian Vegie box: 14th December

Summer is on the way – this week’s box features either delicious cherries from Cherries Tasmania in Old Beach, or delicious raspberries from Lucaston Park in the Huon; if you get a $40 box your box will have delicious both! Peak fruit in Tasmania always arrives sometime around Christmas –what a lovely gift that is – and next week for those who have ordered we’ll have fresh Tassie peaches and blueberries too.

Dendra Market Gardens have supplied us with a couple of their lines that have just become available this week – their new Mesclun mix (so new that the bags still haven’t arrived yet) and some beautiful bunched beetroot. We’ve swapped the podding peas from Mooreville Gardens and sugar snap peas from Grown for Taste around this week so everyone gets to try both, and fingers crossed next week we might even have some snow peas.

This week’s Dutch cream and pink eye potatoes are a little bigger – which is what happens when they stay in the ground for a bit longer – but just as delicious, and both would be excellent for potato salads, especially with coriander, mint and spring onions in the mix. Customers from last week will also have the garlic that was missing from last week’s box included this week.
