Lauran and Henriette immigrated to Australia from Dutch farming families, looking for arable land, a resource in scant supply in land-locked Holland. Setting up their operation in the North-West of Tasmania, already a hugely productive agricultural area, the husband and wife team opted to avoid treading on other locals’ toes by growing quinoa, at the time a little heard of wonder-grain from South America, well suited to the local conditions. They have since diversified in a range of other certified organic grains, and also mill their own flour on site.
