John, as you might expect from a potato grower, comes from good Irish stock, and his son Ben will be the fourth generation of Donohoes farming a hilly plot south of Cygnet repatriated to John’s grandfather after WWI. Very little goes to waste on John’s watch, with farm sheds built from scrap iron and wood harvested from the farm, and pigs eating scraps and tilling the soil. John grows a wide range of heirloom potatoes in addition to a variety of more common varieties, and keeps a vegie garden close to the house with, in his words, “one of everything”.
