Backyard Bounty all-Tasmanian Vegie box: 6th December

This week’s $40 box features Fioretto sprouting cauliflowers from Grown for Taste – which we’ve also supplied to The Glass House, The Agrarian Kitchen, Franklin, Osteria, Driftwood, Lebrina and Prospect House this week! Cut the sprouts close to the core of the cauliflower head, then treat them just like you’d do with broccoletti – lightly steam them, grill them or roast them, or throw them in a stir fry, they don’t need much doing to them as they’re beautifully sweet and tender, but they’re also wonderfully versatile.

As we move into summer we really start to come out of the “hunger gap” of spring – next week fingers crossed we’re expecting the first raspberries and cherries of the season (blueberries are still a week or so out), and also new season Nicolas and Kennebecs; availability of specialty lines like the golden beetroot in this week’s boxes also should increase. If we’re really lucky, we might even be able to get our hands on some peas next week!
