This week’s boxes feature a trio of herbs – basil, coriander and Mexican tarragon from Hills Hydroponics in Don Heads near Devonport on the sunny North coast of Tasmania. Stephen Hills main business is growing seedlings – this used to be for forestry but now is primarily for agriculture – but the system of growing small plants in hydroponic plugs in a hot house is also ideal for growing herbs, especially soft herbs like the ones in this week’s box! We’re especially pleased to have been able to source Mexican tarragon – whilst it’s technically not actually tarragon, it has a much stronger aroma and flavour than the more prolific Russian tarragon, and despite the fact that it’s not really related it’s much more like the French tarragon much prized by chefs.
