After a fairly lean few weeks, spring is really starting to kick in! This week we’re pleased to be ready to offer Tassie asparagus from Premium Fresh for the first week of the season – premium asparagus (read coles/woolies specs) or thicker “seconds” asparagus are both available, and starting at $1.45 per bunch for ten seconds it’s at a very nice price too! [From left to right in the picture: PF large/seconds, PF premium, and Newry Asparagus bunches. We can also source the organically grown Newry Farm bunches if required for $6 each if sufficient interest)
Grown for Taste planted out a variety of lettuce for us during the winter months, and the first variety – “exam” (pictured below) is ready to go this week. Iceberg lettuce from Southern Fields is also starting this week, but sadly it’s the last week of their cauliflower season, so stock up!
We’ll be ordering with Brandsema and Cracknells this week, so all tomato bases are covered, and herbs from Hills Hydroponics are also available – including dill for the first time in quite a while!
Certified organic (and lovely) greens from York Town Organics are plentiful at the moment – and are available both as smaller 100-130g retail packs and 1kg catering packs, in a great range of varieties. Radishes are also well covered; York Town have loose French breakfast radish, Richmond Farm have purple radish and 10 bunches of red radish from Dendra Market Gardens is great value at $14.5.
