This week is a good chance to stock up on a few staples. We’re taking orders for Sassafras Farms parsnips this week for delivery next Friday (27th) – these require a slightly longer lead in time on deliveries. We’re ordering pears from OE Hansen & Son this week – we’re ordering these roughly every third week so if you want a few week’s supply we’d recommend ordering them this week. This may also be the last week for a few weeks that we’ll have supply of red onions so grab them this week to avoid the wait.
We’ve been able to secure direct supply from Southern Fields as of last week, which means that cauliflowers will now be fresher and cheaper – mini cos twin packs are also available, along with iceberg lettuce (although these won’t be available for much longer as the iceberg season comes to a close). Carrot season is all but finished – if you’d like to stock up on local carrots this week is probably your last chance to do this.
Limes, cumquats and grapefruit are all looking good for this week – we’re using lemons in our vegie boxes this week but there may be some surplus that will be available of those too.
Richmond Farm will be taking some time off this week due to family matters – if there are any of their lines you would like to order please let us know and we may be able to source these for you depending upon logistics.
We’ve made some tweaks to our pricing; we’ve reduced the minimum order on some lines to allow for smaller commercial and vegie boxes customers to order, and the price on wholesale quantities of some lines has come down slightly. Please note, however, that smaller quantities are subject to availability: in most cases we have set quantities that growers supply in, so in order to sell smaller quantities our total order needs to add up to multiples of these set quantities.
