This week we’re offering some rather special spuds from our potato grower John. Maris Piper potatoes are the classic British roaster – perfect for crispy skins and pillowy soft interiors; Tasman potatoes are an old local variety with a red skin, but make a perfect silky pure-white mash when peeled.
John also has had a bumper crop of Democrats – a cooking apple renowned for its storability that was one of the original apples shipped from Tasmania back to England in the golden-age of Tasmanian apple production in the Huon – available for $1.8/kg.
We’ve also got field-grown green tomatoes from a grower at Maydena – we had some for breakfast on Sunday crumbed and fried and they were delicious!
We’ll be ordering with Brandsema this week, which means we’ll have their regular delicious cherry tomatoes and also this week angel cherries, which are sweeter and a slightly more elongated shape – these are both available pre-punnetted or loose (and slightly cheaper) in 2kg boxes – along with continental cucumbers for $1.5.
This week is the last week of Tasmanian avocados – what we have left is available on a first-in first-served basis.
Please place orders no later than Tuesday lunchtime – if there’s anything that’s not on this list you’d like us to source for you let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
