Orders for our all-Tasmanian fruit and veg boxes are now open for February! To place an order, just let us know by email what box type and optional add-ons you’d like on each of the following dates.
2nd February (ORDERS CLOSED)
- 9th February (ORDERS CLOSED)
- 16th February (ORDERS CLOSED)
- 23rd February (ORDERS OPEN TIL 19th)If you’re ordering for the first time or you’re changing your delivery/pick-up status you’ll need to specify which of these two options you’d prefer when ordering, along with any items you’d like excluded. New customers are also welcome to order a single box to try the service first, and as an added incentive, delivery (normally $5 extra) is free with your first box. Delivery is available in a wide range of areas, and we also offer third-party delivery to locations in the Huon and the east coast.
February is a time of abundance in the Tasmanian seasonal-eating calendar; berries are plentiful, the first apples of the season will begin to become available, and veg like zucchini, corn and field tomatoes also ripen and mature in the long summer days, while “winter” crops like onions and potatoes also begin to be harvested.
We’ll be posting special bulk buy options for non-perishables and fruit suitable for preserving on our Facebook page, along with other general info and great meal ideas, so if you aren’t following this already now’s a great time to start.
We’ll continue to offer our great range of locally sourced and produced add-ons, including our seasonal fruit boxes ($25), fruit supplement ($10) and half kg avocado bags ($8) from Avoland. Philadelphia Bakers are taking a few weeks off in February, which will mean their delicious bread will be unavailable from the 16th February til the 2nd March inclusive.
In exciting news, we’re trialling two great gluten-free breads from Straight Up Gluten-Free Bakers in Feb – Super-Seedy ($8.5) and also a focaccia triple-pack ($5). Feel free to give these options a try while Corey and family are on holidays; or if you prefer, we’ll continue to offer Geezer & Co crumpets and Manna Bakehouse bagels and breads.
Banticks Eggs are also temporarily unavailable – we’re hoping that the girls will come back on the lay again by the end of the season, but as they are allowed to respond naturally to seasonal stimuli these eggs aren’t always available.
Please email backyardbounty.vegiebox@gmail.com to order for February or for any enquiries, and we’ll get back to you soon!
