Orders for our all-Tasmanian fruit and veg boxes are now open for August! To place an order, just let us know by email (backyardbounty.vegiebox@gmail.com) what box type* and optional add-ons you’d like on each of the following dates. If you’re ordering for the first time or you’re changing your delivery/pick-up status you’ll need to specify which of these two options you’d prefer when ordering. New customers are also welcome to order a single box to try the service first, and as an added incentive, delivery (normally $5 extra) is free with your first box. Delivery is available in a wide range of areas, and we also offer third-party delivery to locations in the Huon and the east coast.

August is still all about winter in Tasmania – even though the days have actually been getting longer for a while now, if anything it seems to be getting colder outside… Perfect weather for getting your groceries delivered, but don’t forget to spare a thought for the hard working Tassie farmers tending and harvesting your veg in the cold and wet!
Speaking of Tassie farmers – Mr BB has just finished compiling some stats from the 2016-17 financial year, and we’re pleased to let you know that we spent just short of $300,000 of Tasmanian produce over the year, including:

11.5 tonnes of potatoes - 3,600 cauliflowers
- 9 tonnes apples
- 1,191 bunches asparagus (not bad considering how short the season is!)
- 53,000 eggs (ouch!)
- 5,400 bunches of herbs (various)
- 2,800 kg onions (various)
- 4.5 tonnes of pumpkin
- 1,800 loaves of stoneground sourdough bread
- 2 tonnes of tomatoes (and 1000 punnets of cherry toms)
Tax return time is a great time to stop and take stock of how things are going, and it can be easy to take the enormity of the task of sending out over 200 boxes of fresh produce a week for granted at times… but we’re very proud of what we’re doing, and grateful to you, our customers, in supporting us, the growers we buy from, and the other local businesses we support.
