Orders for our March all-Tasmanian produce boxes are now open!

Orders for our all-Tasmanian fruit and veg boxes are now open for March! To place an order, just let us know by email (backyardbounty.vegiebox@gmail.com) what box type and optional add-ons you’d like on each of the following dates. If you’re ordering for the first time or you’re changing your delivery/pick-up status you’ll need to specify which of these two options you’d DSCN9521prefer when ordering. New customers are also welcome to order a single box to try the service first, and as an added incentive, delivery (normally $5 extra) is free with your first box. Don’t forget – you’re welcome to specify exclusions with your box – when your excluded items are in a box, they’ll be swapped for something of equivalent value.

*Please note that due to Mr BB making an error on March ongoing invoices that was only picked up after all invoices were made and emailed out (arghh!), orders for March 31st will be treated as part of the month of April.

16142416_708345402663613_7684013282715860600_nMarch is officially the beginning of Autumn, but in Tasmania much of the bounty of summer continues through what can often be the warmest month of the year. Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and to a less extent raspberries continue to be available, along with some stonefruit; March also generally sees picking commence for the fruit that gives Tasmania its name – the humble apple! Mark & Christine Duggan will be back with their certified organic Gravensteins and other apple varieties, and we’ll also welcome the return of Matt & Ruth‘s sweet corn and celeriac harvest. Despite the very changeable weather, field tomatoes should become available this month, and if you’re a fan of relish, it’s a great month for laying down stock for the winter, with tomatoes, onions, garlic, capsicum and more available – if you’re interested in bulk orders of any of the above, and in particular saucing tomatoes, please let us know and we should be able to arrange this! March will be the last month of the fruit supplement; if you’re interested in bulk quantities  16832149_1191941354237008_1333653883462276651_nof fruit for freezing or preserving, please contact us sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.

We’ll be running an exciting new competition in March, looking for stories about what you like about BB boxes and how you and your families, or flatmates, or significant others, or pets, put your weekly box of goodies to great use – details for how to enter and the rewards available will be posted and sent out soon after the bulk of March orders are processed next week. Keep your eyes peeled and your typing fingers at the ready!

All customers with subscription orders should now have received their March invoices (with the exception of those with amounts outstanding on their February invoices). We’re always more than happy to make changes to your standing order – we want you to enjoy your weekly dose of fresh, local produce! – but a reminder please: all cancellations are due no later than Monday each week. We do our best to swap cancellations with orders from new customers who’ve missed the ordering deadline (which is also Monday COB), but get in early to avoid missing out!

Please don’t forget too that we do the environmentally responsible thing and re-use your boxes – these can either be returned when picking up your next box, or left out for pick-up on delivery day.

Please email backyardbounty.vegiebox@gmail.com to order for March or for any enquiries, and we’ll get back to you on Saturday and Sunday after the weekly Thursday-Friday packing and delivering madness is over!
