Orders are now open for September! To place an order, just let us know by email (backyardbounty.vegiebox@gmail.com) what box type and optional add-ons you’d like on each of the following dates. If you’re ordering for the first time or you’re changing your delivery/pick-up status you’ll need to specify this too with the order. (New customers are also welcome to order a single box to try the service first, and as an added incentive, delivery is free with your first box.)
You’ll find all the information you need about the various box types and add-ons here: https://backyardbounty.com.au/vegie-boxes/. In exciting news, we’re offering two new types of boxes in September. The budget box ($25) is designed to provide generous quantities of substantial fruit and veg for a great price, and the organic box ($35) includes only produce from certified organic growers or growers that use strictly organic principles. As both of these boxes have a reduced range of available produce by their nature, we’re only offering two exclusions with your order of each of these boxes. The other boxes will continue to offer theoretically unlimited exclusions, but please note that the more exclusions you have the more likely it is that we’ll need to resort to doubling up items to bring your box up to value, especially if it’s a $40 box.
We will only be offering the stoneground sourdough ($6) and crumpets ($5) in the bakery department this month rather than the usual array of bread specials, but we are offering a limited edition mulberry and apple jam from the BB kitchen this month for the standard vegie box customer jam price of $6.5. You’ll find a full availability list of preserves at the link above along with the other information about add-ons and box types. Bantick’s free range eggs have been flying out the door (over 400 dozen in August!) and King Bee’s yummy honey ($6) is also proving to be a favourite!
All customers with subscription orders should now have received their September invoices – with the exception of those with amounts outstanding on their August invoices – if you want to change any details of your order it’d be great if you could do so before Monday 5th of August, especially if it’s a change to one of the new box types as we’re eager to get planning and accurate numbers will help!
Don’t forget – we re-use the boxes, so if you’re a delivery customer, leave your empty (and clean, please!) box out for collection on delivery day, and if you’re a pick-up customer, please bring your box with you to return when you pick up. We’re almost at the end of the old, unbranded boxes for pick-up customers, and we’re aware some aren’t in a great condition; however, when we move to the new, sturdier boxes that we’ve been using for deliveries we’d really like to make sure we’re getting a good return rate so we can spend more of your money on vegetables and less on new boxes!
Thanks for your support through what’s a fairly lean time in the Tasmanian growing calendar – we’ve had word that our hot-house growers will have tomatoes and capsicums hopefully by the end of September – yay! – and the range of items included in your boxes should be increasing hopefully in the next few weeks as we move into spring.
Don’t forget – if you’d like to order, email backyardbounty.vegiebox@gmail.com. Please be patient though, as we’ll be making like the census over the next few days, and there’s only so fast one person can process all those orders… all orders will be processed by no later than Sunday, so if your order is still in limbo by then, feel free to send a reminder as we may have somehow missed it.
